e-cigarette anyone?

Postby Roller » Sun Jan 17, 2010 5:23 am

Hi guys,
I've just found out about e-cigarettes and wondered if anyone has tried them?
For those not in the know (like me three days ago) they're electronic devices, most of which look like cigarettes, which produce a nicotine laden vapour which you smoke, or vape as some say. Most are flavoured to be like cigarettes, though there are umpteen different flavours available too (even banana, I kid you not).
Anyway, it looks interesting and I'm thinking of getting one. Basically it seems to be less risky - because it's all the gunk like tar and carbon monoxide in cigarettes which are most harmful, not the nicotine as such. Also a lot cheaper because it isn't taxed, though the initial cost is about 40 quid.
I've found plenty of information because there's a community like this one for e-cigarettes (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/).
And it still looks the business, e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRajivanSaA
If anyone has any experiences to share or would like to know how I get on just let me know.
Cheers
Scott

I have one, but haven't tried it yet.

I hesitated to post about it for fear of being strung up by my balls for promoting such haressy as safe cigs and "fake" smoke. Just kidding, the guys have been very tolerant of my randomness etc. here.

I think most of the outlets here in the states are mostly interested in getting you "hooked" on their own e-cig product by having proprietary mechanisms that you cannot find support for elsewhere.

I have not yet searched out what I would call the 350 small block of e-cigs where everyone has everything for them.

If, however, you look at ALL the posts on youtube from smokers who have done every imaginable modification to e-cigs you'll soon find that the companies have not been very effective to that end.

These guys are hot-rodding them with bigger battery packs and one guy even made a pack that you screw 4 atomizers/cartridges into for smokin multiples! Now don't get lead into the "I must always buy new nic cartridges all the time" because the more hardcore e-smokers are buying the liquid and re-upping the cartridges themselves.

Personaly I think this thing will be more of a gateway to real cigs than anything else. Certainly kids will be far less hessitant to try it and the rest will be history. Good or bad, you decide.

PS. If you're into weed, rest ASSURED that the 420 science community is MAD AT WORK to find the best way to use these to get totally fuckin wicked wasted without the smoke. Apparently there are technical issues that you wouldn't expect if you didn't know.

EXCELLENT POST!
Nerd, please give it a try & do a review of them. i'm really curious about the whole thing. please share.
thanks!
btw, when i HAD to give up smoking for 6 months after my neck fusion, i realized it was THE INHALING OF SMOKE that i missed most. that's why i went to smoking non-nicotine cigs. that was my life/sanity saver.

Thought I'd give an update. One week on and it's so far so good. Basically its all right, when it works right - which takes a little getting used to - it is like proper smoking. Not exactly the same, it may be that I need to get some stronger juice but I find myself doing DLI's to get that rough feeling which I like in a cigarette - and that takes some sucking! The model I got is an evolution from intellicig, probably not hardcore enough for me. I'm used to smoking unfiltered roll ups at about 1.6mg nic and find 'ordinary' filtered cigs don't really give enough smoke. The evo is much more like a filtered cigarette. Still it does the business, satisfying, enjoyable - you don't want me to get too personal do you?
I expect with practice, and experimenting with different juice it'll get better. Meanwhile I still smoke a real cigarette when I want to, which isn't that often. It'll take time to see how much money I'm saving but it does feel good to know I can get most of the pleasure of smoking and feed my nicotine addiction without all that shit like carbon monoxide and carcinogens in cigarette smoke. Given that I was starting to seriously consider cutting down this seems better.
Actually I did quit for a couple of weeks a year or so ago - felt a lot better for it physically but I was always going to slide. Might as well try to give up wanking  . Still, now I'm feeling some of that physical benefit (which is probably just more oxygen - less CO) while smoking as much as usual - or possibly more, I don't really keep track.

I haven't yet tried the e cigarette and at the present time I have no desire to.
I agree with the comments made that they are undoubtedly a safer way to absorb nicotine and I'm pleased that the guys who have tried them enjoy them and find them satisfying.
I became addicted to nicotine through smoking tobacco and at the time I was aware of the risks of smoking however I wanted to smoke so I did. I'm not turned on by the thought of damaging my lungs however I don't regret starting to smoke and I don't want to quit as I enjoy inhaling the smoke as well as the taste of it (and of course the nicotine).
To me smoking is about tobacco and not substitutes for the real thing - it gives lots of pleasure so stick with it.

I finally gave it a try. I ended up with the "Pure" brand. So far I can't say it has replaced my cigs.
First of all the taste of the tobacco flavored cartridges at least for me was absolutely repulsive.
It tasted like you ground up a cig and soaked it in water.

Also the throat catch was WAY more intense than my Camel Wides or Reds ever were.
I found the easiest way to get the "smoke" down was to french it. The mirror value is still pretty good.

I guess I just need more practice re-learning to "smoke"

Deeply craving comments or suggstions from other e-smoke fetishers.

I just ordered the Joye 510 NoBox with PCC from cignot.com. Also for good measure also ordered a USB passthrough and some samplers. Not sure they will be the best for the juice, but I'll see. I'm looking forward to trying this out.

Update - I received my e-cig order on Thursday. I've got half a pack of Luckies non-filtered and half a pack of Reds that have been sitting in my smoking room ever since. I've been tempted a few times, but a few toots on the e-cig and I forget the urge.

There was a local meetup in a nearby town last night and there were a bunch of cool people who really loved their cigs, but have moved over to vaping, most of them, completely. A few of them, people who do reviews on YouTube. In addition, there are some totally cool mods and equipment - larger battery packs, drip tips, cartomizers, essentially ways to increase vapor production and throat hit (that great feeling you get when you do a deep drag). There were tons of samples of different e-juice (nicotine liquids) in varying strengths and flavors. I walked out with a bunch of equipment gifts from various people and bought a vial of juice called "Honey Beez" which is pretty awesome.

The other really interesting thing was to be in a room of people enthusiastic about "smoking" and getting their nic fits and having a ball! (Some real hotties too). Some of the "mods" are just beautiful pieces of machining / manufacture.

So, 3 day review so far - so good. I can get nice big plumes of vapor, blow awesome smoke rings, and get a good throat / lung hit and feed my nic habit.

My atomizers died today, and ordering replacements will take a few days. Fortunately, there is someone local who may be able to get me one tomorrow. Did not touch cigarettes until today (over two weeks). Fortunately, I had a half pack of Luckies and Reds laying around. I would say that vaping with 5 volts has given me the equivalent of the Lucky Strike non-filter. I've got a vid of me with a Lucky and maybe I'll take one with my 5volt mod. The vapor has the look, density and throat hit of a Lucky Strike or Red, depending on how I vape.

I would suggest if anyone is interested in trying one out, that a Joye 510 or an ego kit from an online store is the way to go. DO NOT buy from a mall kiosk or you will get ripped off royally. There are lots of sources - check out the YouTube videos (search for the term "vape or vaping") PM me if you want any suggestions of stores, but really, do a little research and watch a few YouTube videos.

Well, someone came through last night and delivered an atomizer for me, and my order arrived this afternoon, so I'm back in vaping heaven. I did break down and buy a fresh deck of Lucky Strike non-filters. Smoked maybe half the pack and now they are sitting idle. The vaping satisfies and feels better on my lungs - I've been smoking for 40+ years. I breath better and smell better for sure.

I was joking about smoke rings with my husband before dinner and he said you couldn't blow smoke rings, but just to show him, I blew some of the thickest, creamiest "smoke" rings ever from my e-cig. It's really just like the real thing, or better. Enough for now, and I'm not sure anyone is even bothering to read my posts....Keep 'em lit boys, analog or digital!
